| 33 057 News
Class 33 locomotive 33 057 (D6575) is now at the DEPG Depot at Williton. In addition to receiving a repaint (eventually into original green livery) a full engineering survey of the loco is being performed to determine what work is required to restore it to working order. 33 057 arrived at the WSR on 17th September 2005 following purchase by the owner of operational WSR based Crompton 33 048. The loco having been stored at a number of locations since withdrawal in 1996. After an initial period of storage at Bishops Lydeard 33 057 was moved to Minehead during the early part of 2006. One of the main aims of the engineering survey is to establish the full extent of damage to cabling caused by the under frame fire suffered by the loco. This was due to overheated brakes and occurred on May 9th 1996 at Coulsdon North whilst heading a Three Bridges to Hoo Junction engineers train paired with 33 030 and resulted in the loco's withdrawal. Evidence suggests that the straight air brake was left partially applied. The missing components have been largely identified and a number of these have already been secured with negotiations ongoing for others. However a number of items have still to be sourced and these are listed below. If you are able to supply any of these items for 33 057 or offer any other help please contact us at: wsrdepg@yahoo.com ========================================================== 33 057 Required items.
