The ten damaged brake block holders sent for repair to Arlington Fleet Services, Eastleigh, were returned on Friday courteusy of the Chairman's car!
The picture of a repaired item making an interesting comparison with the view of a damaged one prior to repair included in the previous report.
However, they still needed a bit of "adjustment" so as they would hold the blocks correctly. So on Saturday a brake block was placed on the bench and each holder was ground in turn as required until a perfect fit was obtained.
One holder was fitted on Saturday and a further six on Sunday.
It is anticipated that the remaining three will be fitted next weekend together with the brake blocks and the one missing slack adjuster.
This is working towards putting the loco through a full brake system test in a couple of weeks time ahead of the commencement of test running but is entirely dependant on some contracted work being completed within the next week or so.
The situation should be better known by next weekend.
