| 19th Feb. At Williton on the Saturday, the replacement block of cells was fitted into the battery for the loco and the whole lot was charged. One of the original cells had been "borrowed" to replace a defective one on D1010. The refurbished No.1 Exhauster is seen stored behind the batteries. A view of the new mounting arrangements being incorporated onto the loco at Cranmore is seen ready for the re-installation of the exhauster. A start has also been made on painting the engine room. The fibreglass ceiling in No.2 cab has now been temporarily installed permitting the second draught screen to be fitted. The ceiling will have to be dropped down again when the loco returns to Williton to permit installation of the wiper motors. I completed the connection of the new exhauster cables in the electrical cubicle and have started wiring the No.2 cab lights following the draught screen installation. The loco is scheduled to move into the CTMS workshop at Cranmore on 2nd March to enable the exterior painting to be completed and the windscreens intalled. The possibility of performing the Ultrasonic Axle Testing whilst the loco is still at Cranmore is being investigated following which it is anticipated that the loco will go for tyre turning at Bristol St. Phillips Marsh Depot prior to returning to the WSR in early April. |
