| Update 1st Feb The pins that go through the brake cylinder cranks and handbrake sliders on No.1 bogie were located in the stores at Williton and following refurbishment were fitted at Cranmore today. All cab sliding lights and quarter lights are now fitted. I have been curious as to why the handbrake pull-rod on No.2 bogie had not been coupled up. So having decided I could slide in under the battery box I had a closer look. The pin and bushes were all ok but when I tried to lift the pull-rod into position it was obstructed by the bogie bonding lead. So I reckon that provides the explanation! But it was actually quite easy to disconnect the bonding lead, couple up the pull-rod, and then re-connect the lead. I applied the hand brake and proved that it worked ok. The horns at both ends have been coupled up during the week and have apparently also been tested by using a compressor! I have run in some cables to the refurbished marker lights in No.2 cab. Following the original conduit around shows it leads into the headcode panel so I reckon they used to operate in conjuction with the the headcode lights. |
