Being bored after Xmas, I went up to Cranmore on Tuesday 28th December and did a couple of jobs on 33 057.
Main job was to try each brake block pin to check if it was free in preparation for a complete brake block change planned for the not too distant future. I managed to get all but one of them to budge and have left that one soaked with a mixture of oil and diesel which it is hoped will un-sieze it.
The other job was to remove the badly corroded No.1 cab instrument panel box for use as a pattern for a new one. I am informed that the replacement box was manufactured within two days!
All external bodywork welding has now been completed and the repaired radiator grilles have been fitted.
Current work includes repair of the four cab draught screens and it is anticipated that these will be installed early in January.
The fibreglass internal roof sections are also being repaired and must be loose fitted into position prior the draught screen installation.
