| Update 20th April The first two of the overhauled FD1 Direct Air brake Valves arrived back from overahaul last week and have been fitted to the drivers positions in each cab. The original units removed should be sent for overhaul this week and on their return will be fitted into the secondman's positons. That's the theory anyway! In the afternoon, the loco was towed outside the shed and started. It ran very smoothly once warmed up with no leaks from the cooling system although we did have some overflowing as the cooling system had been slightly over filled. After running for about two hours, it was driven back into the shed under it's own power. Tony has painted the insides of the headcode panel. He tells me the curious colour of his jacket is known as "primrose" and was given to him during his career as a teacher! Brad has now painted most of the external pipes and fittings on the loco including the white bits on the lifeguards. The shed plates have arrived and have been offered into postion. |
