| Work Report Sat 17th July. With photos by Tom Goodman, Ian Robins and Terry Deacon. Good work on various projects today including the engine repairs to Sentinel shunter DH16. D1010 was the traffic loco today working two round trips on the 'DMU' diagram from Bishops Lydeard. The Class 33 was moved light engine with the 'thousand' ready for Sunday's working. Sunday went off well with a Trainee Driver passing out on the loco. Many of the usual 33 bashers were out in force for the train. Ian Robins, one of our long term volunteers and chief Class 33 engineer at Williton celebrated his 50th birthday. A photo is below of his celebratory cake. Ian has also sent in some photos from the Class 33 running on Sunday. Terry has sent in some photos below and a few words below. Sat the Sentinel Rolls Royce engine was started and run, having had a full "Top End" overhaul, all went well with just a few minor tweaks. The next job was to change the two drive chains, a heavy and messy job. Pictures show :- 1.The Large chain splitter to seperate the chain. 2.The new and old are joined ready to feed over the sprockets. 3.A useful tow from the 03 moves the loco as the chains are pulled into position over the drive sprockets. All that remains to do is to lift the new chain ends together and push home the joining/split link !!! not for the faint hearted and required much huffing and puffing from Colin and Simon,I was taking the photo's !!!! Tom Goodman has sent in three photos below that of D1010 out and about. |
