| John Hembry has sent in some photos of interest of D9526 April 1980 leaving Blue Circle Premises Westbury. He adds: Noting the fact that "Onslaught" has just had it's fiftieth anniversary of entering traffic, perhap's you might like to remind everyone that April 1st/2nd will be the thirtieth anniversary of D9526 arriving on the WSR. I recall that unloading presented the biggest problem as officially there was no road access at Bishops Lydeard, negotiation's resulted in the steel gate's being unlocked for the purpose and the loco was unloaded in what was then a coal yard. The class 14 was subsequently towed to Williton by 07 D2994 courtesy of the late Mr Archie Parsons. Martin Howard also points out: 13th February is the 45th anniversary of the day in 1965 when D1661 was released to traffic for the first time. |
