| Western D1010's transmission is successfully re-installed. Monday 27th Feb On a bitterly cold day Bob Tiller, Geoff Miles, Mike Randall and Julien Western refitted D1010's "B" transmission back into the loco today after repairs, plus the output and input cardan shafts refitted bolted up. In addition, the "B" end Serck tank which contains the reservoir of hydraulic oil for the cooler group fan system was removed after a suspect oil leak was found. The pipe work and tank will now be inspected for either holes or cracks. The "B" end was also steam pressure washed again to remove any leaked oil from the Serck Tank and in other areas where years of accumalated dirt oil and muck had built up. Shunting the yard and Western was Colin Girle with his Sentinel and the class 14. John Cronin and Graham Perry undertook further work on D7018's bogies refitting the axle box keep plates. Mike Cooke and John Walker also undertook some work around the depot including a rather warming barrel fire! by Bob Tiller, Chairman. | ||
