Report 16th October

On Saturday, Tony T-B assisted me to cut the vinyl into sections for fitting to the new cab floor panels.  Tony has modified the holes in the first set of panels to accommodate the ring pull hinge.  It is hoped the vinyl will be stuck onto the first set of panels in the next couple of weeks.
The second set of floor panels have now been given two coats of wood preserver.
The new hardwood section for the front of No.2 cab was transported to Cranmore and on Sunday Dick H and myself fitted it into position.  First problem was to remove the remains of the old woodwork and fixings!
The new section was slightly modified to accommodate the heads of some bolts and secured into position using self-tapping screws.  This will now permit the DSD pedal assemblies to be re-installed once refurbishment is completed.  Further fasteners will then be fitted and the wood will be covered with a section of the same vinyl as used on the floor panels.
Dick is seen giving the underfloor area a good clean with a vacuum cleaner.  And yes, two cables got left over the top of the metalwork!  These will be cut and spliced to correctly pass underneath the framing.
The latest progress on the bodywork repairs was examined.
The framing on the drivers side of No.1 cab is nearly complete and in the engine room the new guttering has now been fitted to the second side.
It is likely that the repairs required to the metalwork to the rear of the desk and window frames will necessitate the removal of the No.1 straight air and auto air valves on the drivers side.
