| Update 3rd Sept tt had been hoped to do some further tests on the braking system on Saturday but unfortunately the wrong FV3 Drivers Auto Air Brake Valve was returned to Williton. This unit has a missing sealing valve so was unable to be fitted into position in No.1 cab as intended. A request has been make for the correct valve to be returned so hopefully better luck next time! However, a few more basic brake tests were performed using the FV3 valve in No.2 cab only. This highlighted a couple more leaks that have been rectified. More contract repairs on the two damaged underfloor pipes have been performed during the week. The straight air brake pipe is now satisfactorily repaired but there is still a blow from the control air feed pipe to the cubicle that will require further attention. Tony T-B has commenced fixing down the intermediate hardwood sections between the floor panels in No.2 cab. Some very precision work is evident! Brad continues his painting of pipe work in the engine room. Blue and brown topcoat has been applied this weekend as well as Rail Grey to the supporting structure and adjoining cable ducting. The brass gauge bezels from the engine instrument panel have been rubbed down to bare metal and polished with Brasso. These were laid out on the instrument panel fascia to assess the effect. Looks good! |
