| Somerset in Autumn event report Sat 25th and Sun 26th October. Updated Firstly thank you if you came to the Somerset in Autumn weekend. The Warship D832 was out along with D1661, D6566 and D9526. On the Saturday of the event, D9526 was turned on the turntable at Minehead as the pictures from Terry show. This is a first for a diesel loco on the line. D9526 was occupied most of the time on two coach shuttles from Minehead-Blue Anchor and back. The shed at Williton was open and we were pleased to receive a number of visitors. Saturdays photos are available here. Sundays are here. Good news. All being well, the engine for D7017 should have been installed by crane in the bodyshell today. More on this to follow. Ian writes below: Class 47 D1661 North Star suffered a failure at Bishops Lydeard on the Sunday morning, and was unable to work the first BL-MD turn as booked. D7523 was therefore sent light engine from Williton and worked the turn. The Class 25 was returned to Williton in the afternoon piloting D832 as far as there. The pictures are taken at Minehead with the locos being positioned for the working. 33 057 - New external coolant filling valves have been fitted to the loco to replace the original seized examples! Further news on the forthcoming bodywork repairs is expected soon. 33 048 - The loco has recently been experiencing oil leakage from around No.1 cylinder rocker cover. The cause of this has been identified as a damaged thread in the rocker assembly which prevents the rocker cover from being properly tightened down. Therefore, a replacement rocker assembly has been obtained form an external source and will be fitted to the loco as soon as is possible. |
